Mohamed Barakat refuted on Saturday reports indicating that he would not prolong his Ahli stay unless he received EGP 3 million per season.

The versatile midfielder's talks with Ahli to pen a three-year contract extension have stalled due to his salary demands, local reports suggested.

"I did not discuss anything with the club regarding a contract extension," Barakat told Ahli's official website.

"I did not set any conditions to pen a new deal. I'm not worried about that matter because I still have a year to run on my contract.

Barakat, one of the backbones of an Ahli side that won a host of local and continental titles during the past five years, has been sidelined since the end of last season with a pelvic injury.

He is expected to make his long-awaited return from injury when the Red Devils face Police Union in the Egyptian Premier League next week.

"I can't wait to play. I was hoping to play against Military Production in Thursday's friendly game but coach Hossam Al-Badri did not want to rush me back into action," Barakat added.
