Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson believe that Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona won't be able to dominate the UEFA Champions League this season.

Over the past three editions of the elite competition, there have been three Premier League sides in the semi-final round, but pundits expect that the Primera Liga titans will change the stats.

Barcelona won the prestigious European title last season after defeating United 2-0 in the final, to prove their credential as a continental powerhouse.

Real's super summer signings also prompted speculations that Los Merengues will be favorites to lift the Champions League trophy.

However, Ferguson remains adamant that the English clubs will keep the upper hand.

"Over the last few years the Premier League's top four teams have competed in European Cup semi-finals and finals," the veteran boss stated.

"That's a great level of performance.

"People recognize that in Europe and, even though they may be talking about Madrid and Barcelona dominating again, I have my doubts.

"I think English teams will be in the semi-finals again."
