Hungarian coach Bertalan Bicskei was relieved of his duties at Masri on Saturday, and the Port Said club are set to appoint Anwar Salam instead.

"Masri's recent results weren't exactly what we had expected," coastal side president Kamal Abou-Ali stated.

"At this point, I think the team need an Egyptian coach who's more informed of the Egyptian Premier League.

"I have already reached an agreement with Salam to take over at Masri starting next month."

Masri lost 2-0 to Military Production in their opening league game, before battering Ghazl Mahalla 3-0 to make up for their poor start.

However, a 3-1 loss to Police Union prompted Masri's officials to take action.

The decision to appoint Salama at Masri is yet to be unanimously approved by the club's board.

The former ENPPI manager, who stepped down from his role as the petroleum side's tactician early this month, should pick his assistants once he has been installed at Masri.

Abou-Ali offered Bicskei to take charge of the youth sector for the same wage he was paid as a head coach. The latter is yet to make up his mind.

The former MTK Budapest boss is the sixth coach to be fired at the Egyptian top flight this season.
