The United Arab Emirates reached the U-20 World Cup round of 16 with one group-stage match to spare after beating Honduras 1-0 in Alexandria on Wednesday.

The UAE dominated the game and deservedly notched the winner four minutes before the break.

Ahmed Khalil's well-taken free kick settled the tie and gave UAE, who scored two goals in stoppage time to draw 2-2 with South Africa in their previous match, their first victory in Group F.

Both sides finished with ten men after Honduras' Reinieri Mayorquin and UAE's Ahmed Ali were involved in an exchange in the latter stages.

The UAE, who have four points from two games, ensured their progress, at least as one of the four best third-placed teams.

Both Honduras and Hungary, who have three points each, can also go through when they meet South Africa and UAE respectively in their last group stage games.
