Sir Alex Ferguson could be sanctioned by the English FA for criticizing the referee following Manchester United's 2-2 home draw with Sunderland.

Ferguson was unhappy with the performance of referee Alan Wiley, declaring he was unable to cope with the pace of the game.

In the same manner, the FA will also investigate the post-match comments made my Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce, following the 6-2 thrashing at Arsenal.

Allardyce was left fuming after referee Peter Walton overlooked a considerable penalty appeal for Rovers when the score was level.

"We can't do anything about it unfortunately, but I've got to say publicly, to everybody, and particularly to the bosses of the referees, you've got to stop it. You must. You can't let this go on," he said after the game.
