Please stay calm

There is no need to come down hard on our U-20 Egypt players because the ultimate target was never winning the World Cup or reaching the final even though the tournament is on home soil.

It is true that the national team, who were knocked out by a relatively weak side in Costa Rica, have disappointed all Egyptians because they were capable of booking a last-eight berth at least.

However, people should also be aware that youth competitions are showcases for fresh talents rather than a chance to win accolades so it's no use crying over spilled milk. We can still take advantages of this tournament.

I fully agreed with striker Bougi when he said after the game that if four players of Egypt's U-20 team played with the senior team it would be an achievement.

The likes of Afroto, Bougi and Shehab Ahmed might have a chance to prove their worth under Egypt manager Hassan Shehata.

It is not good to heavily criticize those players while they are still experiencing their first taste of competitive football amid huge pressure from the fans – something they are not used to handle.

Keeping tabs on individuals in the U-20 World Cup is more important than monitoring the progress of the whole team.

The technical staff of Egypt's senior team must now pick the players they deem promising and work on improving their game.
