Italian giants Juventus were drawn to face Ajax Amsterdam in the Europa League round of 32 while Liverpool were paired with Romanian champions Unirea Urziceni.

Juventus and Liverpool will take part in Europe's secondary competition following their embarrassing Champions League exit from the group stage.

Ajax, who finished second in Group A to qualify for the Europa League knockout phase, could prove to be a tough opponent for a stuttering Juve side.

Liverpool will be hoping to overcome Unirea, who were also participating in the Champions League but failed to book a last-16 berth, to restore some pride.

"It will be a tough game because they (Unirea) were in the Champions League," Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez told the club's official website.

"I was following their group because I have some friends in Sevilla and so I know it will be difficult. But we are Liverpool and we have to have confidence."

AS Roma will tackle Greek side Panathinaikos while Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg will meet Spain's Villarreal.

The draw:

Rubin Kazan v Hapoel Tel Aviv

Fulham v Shakhtar Donetsk

Liverpool v Unirea Urziceni
