Bayern Munich are ready to sell Italian striker Luca Toni for free, the club's president Uli Hoeness said on Sunday.

The former Fiorentina man, who joined Bayern in the summer of 2007, is deemed surplus to requirements at the German giants.

He was handed a €25,000 fine last month for criticizing Bayern coach Louis van Gaal as his relationship with the Dutchman reached a dead end.

"We did not receive any concrete offer for him although we are prepared to loan or sell him without a transfer fee," Bild quoted Hoeness as saying to DSF television.

Toni said he wanted to leave Bayern to boost his chances of making Italy's squad for next year's World Cup finals in South Africa.
