The Tunisians are out to make up for their failure to reach the 2010 World Cup under the guidance of new manager Faouzi Benzarti.
Their opponents are apparently outsiders in this group, given their relatively-unfashionable status in the Dark Continent.
However, after orders from the president that they 'must win the trophy' the Zambians are now under pressure to perform in Angola.
In the other match, Cameroon will be looking to maintain their superb form under French boss Paul Le Guen, who guided them to South Africa 2010.
Gabon, on the other hand, have a slim chance of upsetting the Indomitable Lions who beat them twice en route to the Angola finals.
Tunisia
"There are no bad teams. As we have seen the first games are very difficult, even if Zambia are classed as 'outsiders'," said manager Benzarti.
Team News: Midfielder Oussama Darragi limped off the 2-1 defeat to Gambia last week and is doubtful for Wednesday's game.
Influential full-back Yassine Mikari is also a slight doubt.
Star Player: Amine Chermiti is a player who can torment defenses with his pace and goalscoring ability. The 22-year-old has been in superb form with Ittihad Jeddah so far this term.
Player to watch: Chaouki ben Saada; a skilful midfielder who was Tunisia's best player in the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Ghana.
Zambia
"The game against Tunisia must be won and then the rest are a matter of philosophy. Tunisia are just like Egypt and I know their coach very well. He is a good coach but we will see what happens," said French manager Herve Renard.
Team News: Midfielder Felix Katongo has been struggling with injury, but should be fit to face the Tunisians.
Star Player: Zambia will be heavily relying on the influence of captain Christopher Katongo.
Player to watch: While Christopher Katongo is Zambia's main man, his younger brother Felix is another influential asset for Renard.
Cameroon
"We are playing as a team and can compete with Ghana, Ivory Coast and Nigeria for the title," said Le Guen.
Team News: Joel Matip failed to join the squad due to passport problems, while Stephane M'bia is a major doubt.
Star Player: The Lions have no other force better than skipper Samuel Eto'o; the Nations Cup all-time leading goalscorer.
Player to watch: Real Betis Achille Emana is a major helping hand for target man Eto'o.
Gabon
"The team has progressed because my players have an incredible desire to succeed. There is still work to be done, though, like knowing how to use our strengths and how to handle difficult moments," said manager Alain Giresse.
Team News: No injury concerns for the Black Panthers.
Star Player: Hull City hitman Daniel Cousin.
Player to watch: Young striker Pierre Aubemyang is another vital option upfront.
