The driver of Togo's bus was killed and nine people were terribly wounded when gunmen opened fire on the bus in the Angolan enclave of Cabinda.
The death toll rose when assistant coach Abalo Amelete and Adebayor's personal press officer Stanislas Ocloo were pronounced dead the next day.
The tragic incident resulted in the withdrawal of Togo from the biennial competition and severe psychological damage to those who survived the attack.
"I am sweating every day, and every day God makes," Adebayor said. "At the moment I can't eat, I am losing weight. It is very difficult for everyone.
"I will take my time and come back on the pitch at the right time.
"My boss and my team understand that, that is the most important thing. They know I need time to recover from this."

Adebayor said he's still haunted by the death of Ocloo who couldn't recuperate from his lethal injuries.
"It is difficult because my personal press officer died in my hands, that is the worst image I have had in my life," the towering striker explained.
"He passed away in my hands. It is very difficult."
