Youngster Mostafa Selim 'Afrotto' has been included in Ahli's squad for the first time since impressing in the U-20 World Cup in October last year.

The 20-year-old was named in Ahli's 19-man squad for the Egyptian Premier League game against Police Union on Friday.

He was one of Egypt's most prominent players in the World Cup that took place on home soil.

Afrotto scored a goal and bamboozled opponents with his neat footwork despite the Pharaohs' elimination from the second round at the hands of Costa Rica.

However, he was snubbed by Ahli coach Hossam Al-Badari, who preferred to rely on the likes of Ahmed Shokri and Mohamed Talaat, who were also part of Egypt's squad in the tournament.

Afrotto could have a chance to prove his worth when a depleted Ahli side, who are still missing inspirational playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika, host Police on Friday.

The Red Devils will miss left wing-backs Sayed Moawad and Gilberto and striker Emad Meteb, who are yet to recover from injuries they picked up in the African Cup of Nations.

Ahli will also have to do without combative defender Wael Gomaa, who will serve the first of a two-match suspension after elbowing an opponent in the 2-0 defeat to Ghazl Mahalla.

However, they will have veteran midfielder Ahmed Hassan, who was named the Nations Cup best player, available after he missed the Mahalla game through automatic suspension.

Leaders and holders Ahli, who eye a sixth successive league crown, have a four-point advantage over second-placed Ismaili.
