Playmaker Abou-Treika, who has recently recuperated from a serious foot injury, was a surprise inclusion in the Pharaohs squad, seeing that he's still out of form.
Fathallah, on the other hand, suffered a severe cut right below his right eye after he was inadvertently caught in the face by Mohamed Al-Morsi's boot in Zamalek's 2-1 league win at Ittihad.
Egypt coach Hassan Shehata highlighted the importance of the pair, but seemed confident over the replacements.
"We will decide whether or not both players will feature against England after the last training session," Shehata told a press conference.
"Abou-Treika and Fathallah have been key players in the Egyptian squad for a long time, so we hope they can take part in the game.
"In all cases, I'm sure that the substitutes can fill the void left by injuries."
