Ismaili are stepping up their efforts to have new signing Xhevahir Sukaj available for their upcoming Egyptian Premier League games.

The Albanian striker joined Ismaili from Turkish side Orduspor in January but is yet to make his debut due to an administrative problem.

He is yet to secure his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) despite completing his move to Ismaili before the end of the transfer window.

"We've asked the Egyptian FA to contact (world governing body) FIFA to issue an ITC for the player," Ismaili assistant coach Mahmoud Gaber told FilGoal.com.

Ismaili's lack of reliable strikers cost them on several occasions this season, denting their hopes of mounting a serious challenge for the Egyptian Premier League title.

The Dervishes, who could not fill the void left by the departure of Iraqi striker Mostafa Karim last summer, have scored 22 goals so far this season but their frontmen found the net just four times.

"We are trying to find solutions for that. Playing Sukaj in the upcoming matches could be one of those solutions," Gaber added.

Ismaili are third in the league table with 32 points, eight behind leaders and bitter rivals Ahli, who played a game more.

The last season's runners-up are bidding to win their first league title since 2002.
