Ahli veteran Ahmed Hassan has no doubts about his first-team credentials as he explained why he didn’t start the previous two games.

"I am not worried about my place in the starting lineup, it's just that I am in need for a rest after a hectic period of late," the Egypt captain said.

"When I don’t start, it happens in agreement with the manager, so there is no problem. I hope the media would stop making a fuss out of nothing.

"During the first half of the season, I almost singlehandedly carried the team so this is my only chance to get some rest.

"With all due respect to all my teammates, it is very difficult for anyone to take my place as long as I am fit."

Hassan, who was named best player in the 2010 African Cup of Nations, is Ahli's top scorer in the league with seven goals so far this term.
