Zamalek have lodged an appeal to the Egyptian FA in an attempt to cut the eight-match ban on winger Hazem Emam.

The Whites are hoping to have the 21-year-old available for cup matches as he has already served a four-match suspension, with two league games to go.

"Actually we have sent an appeal to the FA and we hope to get a response soon in order to prepare the player," club GM Alaa Meklid told FilGoal.com.

In the same manner, Emam is desperate to face league champions Ahli in a potential round of 16 tie, which should complete his ban.

"I didn’t play against Ahli in the league but I am eager to be part of the cup match and help my team," the pacey winger said.

"I know that the ban could be reduced to four or six games and that’s what I am hoping for."

Emam was sanctioned for his red card in Zamalek's ill-tempered draw with Police Union last month when he confronted referee Tawfik Al-Sayed.
