Ayew has recently voiced his frustration over the bit-part role he had to play since joining Zamalek last summer.
He said the White Knights were ruining his chances of earning a call up to Ghana's squad ahead of June-July's World Cup finals in South Africa.
However, Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac included him in the Black Stars' 30-man squad for the tournament.
Portsmouth's German-born midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, who is awaiting final approval from world governing body FIFA to switch national allegiances, was named in the squad.
The squad also featured Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari, who missed January's African Cup of Nations after falling out with Rajevac, and Chelsea's Michael Essien who has been struggling with a knee injury since December.
Four-time African champions Ghana, who made their first World Cup appearance in 2006, open their campaign against Serbia on June 13.
They will also face three-time world champions Germany and Australia in Group D
