Gouna midfielder Samuel Ocran signed a new three-season deal at the coastal club, who are still struggling to retain a top-flight spot.

The Ghanaian player was lately approached by Arab Contractors, who are also close to the relegation mire, but he preferred to stay put.

"I turned Contractors down to remain a Gouna player," Ocran, the second foreign player in Ismail Youssef's team, told FilGoal.com on Sunday.

Gouna lie 11th in the Egyptian Premier League table with 32 points, only three above of the danger zone.

Their fate partly depends on their remaining league matches against Ahli and Masri.

Gouna were promoted to the Egyptian Premier League for the first time last summer.

A spending spree saw them bolster their squad with many new signings, and thus were tipped to have a domestic campaign to remember this season.

They didn't live up to expectations though.
