Italy coach Marcello Lippi named a provisional squad for the 2010 World Cup but didn't recall Roma veteran Francesco Totti.

Giuseppe Rossi was named in the 30-man list.

The Villarreal striker was the only player who wasn't expected to receive a call up as the rest of the squad's players were gathered at Borghesiana in Rome last week.

Lippi also ignored Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie who was tipped to be called up for the World Cup.

Roma hitman Luca Toni, the Azzuri's top scorer in the 2006 World Cup, was also snubbed.

Italy's Provisional Squad:

Goalkeepers: Buffon, Marchetti, De Sanctis, Sirigu.

Defenders: Bocchetti, Bonucci, F. Cannavaro, Cassani, Chiellini, Criscito, Grosso, Maggio, Zambrotta.

Midfielders: Camoranesi, Candreva, Cossu, De Rossi, Gattuso, Marchisio, Montolivo, Palombo, Pepe, Pirlo.

Strikers: Borriello, Di Natale, Gilardino, Iaquinta, Pazzini, G. Rossi, Quagliarella.
