Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba could not have approached the World Cup in a better way after enjoying a remarkable season with English side Chelsea.

Drogba played a key role in helping Chelsea win the Premier League and the FA Cup for their first ever domestic double.

He finished as the league's top scorer with 29 goals and notched the decisive goal that gave Chelsea 1-0 victory over Portsmouth in Saturday's FA Cup final.

"This season is the best of my career because I have never won a Double," Drogba was quoted as saying on Sky Sports.

"To be champions last week and now to win the FA Cup at Wembley it is the stuff of dreams.

"It is great to be the first team ever to do that for Chelsea is unbelievable."

Drogba will be hoping to make a similar impact when Ivory Coast begin their World Cup campaign next month.

The Elephants will face tough tests against five-time world champions Brazil, Portugal and North Korea in Group G.

"It's the best way to go to the World Cup and be confident and work hard," the 32-year-old added.

"You know it's better to work with a big smile on the face than to be down, and I'm happy to go there."
