Dutchman Dick Advocaat has been named as Russia's new coach, the country's football federation announced on Monday.

"Advocaat will arrive in Moscow on Tuesday and will be presented to our executive board," Russian FA president Sergei Fursenko told reporters.

"His task would be to lead our team to the finals of both Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup.

"He's a real workaholic. He knows all our (top) players which is a big plus."

Advocaat, who resigned as Belgium coach last month, will succeed compatriot Guus Hiddink at Russia's helm.

Hiddink left Russia after failing to guide them to a place at next month's World Cup finals in South Africa.

Advocaat, 62, had a fruitful spell in Russian football, leading Zenit St Petersburg to the league and UEFA Cup titles in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
