Egyptian FA officials have been called by FIFA to explain alleged fan attacks on the Algeria team bus before a World Cup qualifier last November.

Ahead of the decisive clash in Cairo, Algerian players claimed they were attacked by a group of Egyptian hooligans shortly after landing in the capital.

The Fennecs supported their claims with a video showing that players like Rafik Halliche and Khaled Lemmouchia suffered head injuries in the attack.

Following the hearing on Tuesday, a decision from the world football governing body is expected this week.

A verdict against Egypt is widely expected as the host nation is responsible for the safety of visiting opponents.

Egypt could be forced to play matches behind closed doors or even have some of their official games moved to a neutral ground.

Moreover, a severe punishment could see Egypt start their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign with points deducted from their total.

Despite their critical stance, Egyptian FA officials, headed by Samir Zaher, still deny the accusations of the Algerians regarding the November 12 attack.
