The Spanish striker completed a €40-million transfer from Valencia to Spanish champions Barcelona on Friday after passing a medical and signing a four-year deal.
"Messi is the best player I have ever seen," the ecstatic Villa told a news conference upon being presented to the media.
"I will be proud to share a dressing room with him and to wear the same shirt."
Villa scored 28 goals in 45 games for Valencia this season as the team finished third in the Primera Liga which was won by Barcelona.
He has been Valencia's top scorer in every season since joining from Real Zaragoza in the summer of 2005.
The 28-year-old could enjoy greater success with a Barcelona side who boast the finest world stars.
"It is an honour and I am proud of this very important move," Villa, who was the top scorer at Euro 2008 as Spain claimed the title, said.
"I have to thank so many people for this transfer to Barca. My family, Barca, Valencia and everyone that made it become a reality. I am very proud and will give everything to this club."
