Belgian Meeuws appointed Degla manager

Newly-promoted Wadi Degla have appointed Belgian Walter Meeuws as head coach, chairman Maged Sami said.<br>

Newly-promoted Wadi Degla have appointed Belgian Walter Meeuws as head coach, chairman Maged Sami said.

"Meeuws is a manager with vast experience. He also had some spells with Arab teams before," Sami, who is also the owner of Belgian side Lierse, told FilGoal.com.

Meeuws, 59, managed several Belgian sides including Lierse ,Antwerp, Gent and Beveren. He won the Belgian cup with Lierse and Antwerp.

He also worked with Qatar's Al-Gharrafa and Moroccan duo Raja Casablanca and FAR Rabat, where he won the domestic cup in 2009.

Sami confirmed that Hisham Zakaria, the manager who led Degla to the Premier League, will stay on as assistant manager.
