Zamalek-bound midfielder Hussein Ali promised to make a public apology for preferring Ahli to their bitter rivals a couple of seasons ago.

Ali is in talks with Zamalek over a summer move from Gouna, where he spent the past season following a fruitless spell with Ahli.

The 28-year-old, who was eyed by Egypt's top duo in the summer of 2008, regrets his old decision of joining the Reds from Petrojet.

"If I completed the move to Zamalek, I will apologize to the fans in public for turning the club down and preferring Ahli two years ago," Ali told FilGoal.com.

"Joining Ahli was a huge mistake in my career, therefore I will be glad to say sorry to Zamalek fans if I joined the club.

"It's an honor to earn the praise of Hossam Hassan (Zamalek manager). It’s a dream for me to play for Zamalek because I am a fan of this club."
