Essam Al-Hadari apologized to Ismaili fans after what he had described as the weirdest goalkeeping error of his career in Thursday's cup defeat at Harras Hodoud.

The Egypt number one committed a horrendous blunder in extra time to gift Hodoud a 2-1 win, putting an embarrassing end to his first season with the Dervishes.

"I am really sorry for the goal I have conceded and I hope all Ismaili fans would accept my apology," Al-Hadari said.

"I admit that this is the weirdest mistake I have done during my long career as a goalkeeper."

Al-Hadari, who is far from settled in Ismailia, repeatedly revealed his desire to leave the club this summer.

The 37-year-old has just been hit by a four-month ban for breaching his contract with Ahli to join Swiss side Sion two years ago.
