Harras Hodoud coach Tarek Al-Ashri allayed fears over the competence of goalie Ali Farag, ahead of his team's Egyptian Cup final with Ahli on Monday.

Hodoud's first-choice keeper Mathurin Kameni has been sidelined through injury and Farag is deputizing in his absence.

The substitute shot-stopper has been fiercely criticized for his inconsistency, however; Al-Ashri is convinced with his capabilities.

"Farag is very promising and I have faith in him," he told Modern TV.

"Kameni made so many mistakes till he became that impressive keeper we know these days. I think it's the same case here."

Title holders Hodoud are looking to retain the Egyptian Cup title while Ahli, who won the Egyptian Premier League last season, are eyeing a double.
