Spokesman of Gouna's football team Ahmed Al-Sohaifi stated that his side are expecting the Cairo club to reply to their request within the next few days.
Gouna have recently signed Ahmed Hassan Farag and Hassan Gomaa from Police Union as well as Ahmed Adel and Mostafa Mostafa from Olympic.
The coastal club were promoted to the Egyptian Premier League for the first time last summer.
A spending spree saw them reinforce their squad a year ago, and thus were tipped to have a maiden top-flight campaign to remember.
They didn't live up to expectations though, having finished last season in 12th place.
Now they are looking to re-build their squad ahead of next season.
Zamalek goalie Mohamed Abdul-Monsef is one of their targets.
Indeed, the want-out keeper came close to joining Gouna but the White Knights, on second thoughts, decided to keep hold him.
Consequently, Abdul-Monsef made a request to terminate his contract with Zamalek pursuant to the article number 17 of FIFA's rules.
Al-Sohaifi assured that Gouna have absolutely nothing to do with Abdul-Monsef's request.
Gouna also want to run the rule over Zamalek outcast Sherif Ashraf.
