England defender Ledley King has been ruled out of next week's World Cup game with Algeria after suffering injury in the 1-1 draw with USA.

The injury-prone Tottenham center-half was replaced by Jamie Carragher at half-time, before manager Fabio Capello confirmed he will miss England's next game.

"The doctor told me had some problems with his abductor muscle -- he will not fit be for next game," the Italian coach said.

England's next opponents Algeria face Slovenia on Sunday as both teams aim to take advantage and top Group C.

Green explains gaffe

Meanwhile, England keeper Robert Green explained why he leaked in that soft goal which cost his side a victory against USA.

"It's about being steady and taking the rough with the smooth, but that's life as a goalkeeper," said the West Ham guardian.

Capello said he will decide whether to keep the faith in Green or give the nod to either Joe Hart or David James against Algeria.
