Ahli coach Hossam Al-Badri says he is satisfied with his team's 1-1 draw at Nigeria's Heartland in the CAF Champions League group stage on Sunday.

The Red Devils came from behind to salvage one point while their performance was clearly below-par.

However, Al-Bardi was totally happy with the result and Ahli's display against last year's Champions League runners-up.

"I am really pleased with the result, given the circumstances," he told the Cairo giants' official website. "Since arriving in Nigeria we have been facing many difficulties.

"During the match, the (uneven) pitch prevented us from controlling the ball and the high humidity exhausted our players.

"We also didn't play enough friendly matches to prepare for the new season, which clearly reflected on the players' fitness."

Ahli depended on a defensive strategy during the first half but Al-Badri injected zeal after his team conceded the opener on 49 minutes.

"The introduction of Mohamed Barakat and Hossam Ghaly notably improved our attacking ability and helped us bring the score level," the former Ahli assistant coach added.

Mohamed Abou-Treika scored the equalizer for Ahli upon converting a penalty kick that was earned by substitute Mohamed Barakat 15 minutes from time.

Vast Experience

On the other hand, Heartland boss Samson Siasia is convinced that 'Ahli's vast experience' helped them end the game in a stalemate.

"Ahli's vast experience is the reason why we couldn't win," he stated.

"I wanted to win. We were superior most of the game.

"We are still looking to reach the Champions League next round."
