The Inter Milan right-back has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants since Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho was first tipped to take charge at Santiago Bernabeu.
Inter put a £30million price-tag on Maicon's head but Real reportedly refuse to fulfill the European champions' financial demands.
However, agent Antonio Caliendo believes that the highly-rated winger could well complete the deal.
"It seems that things have gone cold, especially as everyone is concentrated on the Mario Balotelli situation, and this pleases me - it means Maicon can enjoy his holidays in peace," he told Sky Italia.
"However, the Real Madrid option for my client has not collapsed. History has taught us that the summer transfer window often closes with a bang."
Maicon worked with Mourinho, who is now in charge of Real, during the last couple of seasons when the latter was at Inter's helm.
