Emad Meteb is toying with the idea of leaving Standard Liege as he nurses a back injury in Cairo, FilGoal.com understands.

The Egypt striker, who has yet to play a single game for his new club, missed the league opener against Zulte Waregem due to a nagging back problem.

It is believed that he needs two months to recover and thus prefers to spend them at home for treatment.

Furthermore, FilGoal.com has learnt that the 27-year-old intends to rescind his contract with Standard and re-join Ahli in the winter break for an unknown reason.

Meteb's transfer to Standard has been subject to endless controversy since he decided not to extend his contract with Ahli this summer.

The Egyptian champions tried persistently to keep their top scorer, who signed a two-year deal in Belgium last month.
