"The Egypt striker presented like a star, is now gone like a thief," wrote Standard's official website.
Standard insisted that Meteb's most recent return to Egypt has been without the consent of the club, who are still investigating the issue.
FilGoal.com exclusively reported on Sunday that the 27-year-old flew home for treatment after sustaining a back injury, as he intends to rescind his contract with Standard for an unknown reason.
Meteb is believed to be planning a return to his old club Ahli in the winter break, even though he knows he will be without a club until then.
Military status
While Standard are likely to take legal action against him for the breach of contract, Meteb is already working on a plan to avoid punishment.
The Egypt hitman, who has yet to reveal the reason behind his shock decision, is looking to use his military status as an excuse for not travelling back to Brussels.
Meteb was only granted permission to travel because of his status as a college student.
Now FilGoal.com has learnt he had withdrawn his papers from Modern Academy University, which means that the Egyptian military will not allow him to leave the country.
