The Bavarian giants, who clinched the domestic double last season and finished the European Champions League as runners up, won the title for the third time in their history.

Thomas Mueller, who on Friday extended his contract with Bayern until 2015, opened the scoring in the 75th minute.

He steered the ball into an empty net after Miroslav Klose, who ran onto a long pass from Andreas Ottl, lifted the ball over the advancing keeper and into his path.

Miroslav Klose ensured the win six minutes later when he converted an Ivica Olic low cross from close range.

Bayern Munich will open the defense of their Bundesliga crown against Wolfsburg on August 20.
