Goalkeeper Essam Al-Hadari implied that tension is growing between him and his Zamalek and Egypt colleague Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed.

Al-Hadari claims he almost started last week's league opener at Harras Hodoud, but manager Hossam Hassan made a late change to his decision as Abdul-Wahed seemed to be irritated.

"I know that naming the starting line-up is an exclusive right to the manager, but I do believe I was the one selected to start against Hodoud," he told his personal website.

"The coach (Hassan) felt that Abdul-Wahed was uncomfortable, so he changed his decision after speaking with me.

"Abdul-Wahed is like a younger brother to me and I have to be wise when dealing with such a sensitive situation."

The awkward situation between Egypt's top two guardians was expected after Al-Hadari moved to Zamalek from Ismaili this summer.

Team captain Abdul-Wahed, who has shown steady form during the past two years, said last season that he is not prepared to play second fiddle in the Whites' squad.

Meanwhile, Al-Hadari is likely to be given the nod ahead of his club and country mate in Egypt's friendly with DR Congo on Wednesday.
