A row erupted at the end of Kabylie-Ahli clash

JS Kabylie chairman Mohand Cherif Hannachi insists he had done his best to ensure the safety of the Ahli squad, in the wake of Sunday's ill-tempered Champions League match.

Kabylie's 1-0 victory in Tizi Ouzou was marred by unrest on and off the pitch as the Ahli team bus was attacked twice by angry Algerian fans.

However, the Kabylie chief indicated that huge efforts were exerted for the safety of the visitors.

"I swear to God that I worked so hard to make sure that the visitors will be safe. I haven’t slept for four nights," Hananchi told Elheddaf newspaper.

"Everyone knows that we started working on securing Ahli's squad since our match with Heartland (two weeks earlier).

"I think did what was necessary and as you have seen. Security was massive inside the pitch."

Apart from the bus incidents, television cameras showed that some Ahli players were involved in a scuffle with unfriendly stewards late in the game.
