Zamalek's under-fire right-back Ahmed Ghanem said he was unworried by the prospect of losing his regular place in the team's starting line-up.

Ghanem came in for stinging criticism after producing a below-par performance in Zamalek's 2-2 draw away to Harras Hodoud in their Egyptian Premier League opener.

Hodoud forward Ahmed Eid repeatedly exploited his weakness to launch a wave of attacks on Zamalek.

Zamalek fans chanted angry slogans against Ghanem, who is currently nursing a knee injury that will sideline him for around six weeks, as a result of his disappointing display.

Youngster Omar Gaber replaced him in Zamalek's second league game, a 2-0 home win over Petrojet.

"I'm not worried over my place even after Gaber took it against Petrojet," Ghanem said on Sunday.

"I will do my best and fight to regain my place in the starting line up."

Ghanem was also criticized for failing to stop the threat of Ahli's Mohamed Barakat during a thrilling 3-3 Cairo derby draw in the latter stages of last season.

He was on the verge of leaving the White Knights in the summer but eventually extended his stay.

"I want to play regularly but I will not mind sitting on the bench. I will exert lots of efforts to break into the starting line up."
