The tension that Police Union felt in the second half could have caused their 3-2 victory over Wadi Degla to slip from their grasp, said assistant coach Mohamed Ibrahim.

"They were afraid of losing their two-goal lead and their fear negatively affected their performance," he said after the Egyptian Premier League match.

"They redeemed themselves afterwards to score a third goal but their form once again plummeted."

Police were far superior most of the game as Mohamed Kawarshi, Mohamed Al-Fayoumi and Reda Al-Azab scored three goals without reply on 13, 33 and 62 minutes respectively.

But Degla's Mohamed Al-Hasri fired a curling free kick that hit the top corner of the net to reduce the arrears three minutes past the hour mark.

Abdul-Fattah Al-Agha converted a penalty kick in the 88th minute but Police kept their slender lead till the final whistle.
