An own goal from Production's Gomaa Mashour put the home side ahead after ten minutes, before two strikes from Minusu Buba and Ayman Saied on 20 and 85 minutes respectively wrapped up the victory.
Police are now in third place on eight points, while Production kept pace with Ismaili on top of the table with nine.
Ismaili have one game in hand as their meeting with Zamalek has been postponed due to the coastal side's African commitments.
The Dervishes face Heartland in Nigeria on Sunday in the CAF Champions League group stage.
Police, on the other, are in third place with eight points from two victories and as many draws.
They took the lead over Production when a fierce shot from Essam Abdul-Ati hit the post before deflecting off Mashour and into the net.
Nigerian striker Buba, who was named the league top scorer last season, doubled Police's advantage when he went one-on-one with the keeper to score with a low effort.
In the second half, Police played more defensively and became dangerous on the counter attack.
Their strategy paid dividends when Saied finished off a neat counter attack complete the rout.
Elsewhere, Arab Contractors, who are yet to register their maiden league victory this season, lost 1-0 at home to Petrojet.
Marwan Mohsen scored the winner on 44 minutes when he diverted home a corner-kick from a tight angle.
Now Contractors lie at the bottom of the table with a sole point from four matches, having lost three times and drawn once.
Petrojet are fifth with six points.
