"Samir is on his way to Zamalek after we had agreed terms with his agent," Zamalek football director Ibrahim Hassan said.
"He is one of the sons of the club and now he has returned. He should train with us until January before completing the transfer."
Samir, who left Lierse shortly before the transfer deadline, spent three seasons with Zamalek before joining Harras Hodoud in 2004.
The 29-year-old helped Lierse seal promotion to the Belgian Premier League last season, but has not played in any of the team's games so far this term and eventually decided to leave.
Zamalek have been searching for a right-back amid the inconsistency of Ahmed Ghanem and the lack of experience of youngster Omar Gaber.
Samir is expected to provide a solution for manager Hossam Hassan, who prefers a 4-4-2 formation.
