Libyan side Ittihad are interested in signing Zamalek wing-back Hazem Emam on a season-long loan, the player's father said on Saturday.

"A representative from Ittihad sat down with my son to inform him of their intention to loan him," Emam's father told FilGoal.com.

"The offer is worth $400,000. Half that amount will go to Zamalek and the other half will go to Emam.

"Ittihad will table the offer within the coming few hours."

Emam, who came through the youth ranks of Zamalek, burst onto the scene in the second half of the 2008-2009 season when then coach Michel Decastel opted to rely on several youngsters to help the team end a dreadful run.

He produced some impressive displays to earn an Egypt call-up, with his pace and dribbling skills down the right flank causing menace to opponents.

However, continuous disciplinary problems hampered the progress of the 22-year-old, who is yet to live up to his potential.

He was handed an eight-match ban in a league game last season for stealing the yellow card from the referee's grasp and throwing it away.

He has been confined to the bench under coach Hossam Hassan so far this season.

"We are waiting for the Libyan offer for Emam," Zamalek marketing director Ashraf Sobhi said.

"We will consider whether to sell him or not when we receive the offer."

Ittihad were on the verge of causing a huge upset in the African Champions League preliminaries but were stunned by a last-gasp goal from Ahli midfielder Shehab Ahmed.

Shehab's thunderbolt earned Egyptian champions Ahli a place in the Champions League group stage at the expense of Ittihad.
