The 31-year-old, whose contract expires by the end of the season, refuted claims of a dispute over a new deal with the Cairo club.
"I spoke with the board about an improved contract and there has been a slight difference in views, but there was never a problem," Moawad told FilGoal.com.
"Joining Ahli was a dream come true, so why would I create problems after being a regular in the team?
"My aim is to remain with Ahli until my retirement date."
Moawad managed to cement his place as the first-choice left-back for club and country during the past couple of years, despite a slow start with Ahli following a 2008 move from Trabzonspor.
The former Ismaili captain is expected to start for Egypt in Sunday's African Cup of Nations qualifiers opener against Sierra Leone.
