Defender Fadi Nagah has been ruled out of the Alexandrian club's CAF Confederation Cup match after suffering a hamstring tear.
Quartet Ahmed Kamal, Ahmed Abdul-Ghani, Mohamed Mekki and Mohamed Hamed are also on road to recovery and will miss Hodoud's clash in Morocco on September 12th.
The injury-hit squad left Al-Ashri with no option but to bring in new blood ahead of the African tie.
"To deal with the absence of many influential players, I decided to prepare some of the youth players included in our African roster," Al-Ashri told FilGoal.com.
Hodoud lie third in the Confederation Cup Group B with two points, one adrift of second-placed Rabat, two of leaders Tunisia's Club Sfaxien.
Zambian side Zanaco are languishing at the bottom of the group with a single point.
