Ahli will meet Esperance in the CAF Champions League semi final after the Tunisian side beat Dynamos of Zimbabwe 1-0 to finish on top of Group A on Saturday.

Captain Oussama Darragi notched home midway through the first half to hand Esperance an away victory.

The 23-year-old forward met Saber Khelifa's cut back with a right-footed shot that went into the top corner of the net from inside the area.

Esperance finished the group stage with 13 points from six games, two ahead of holders Mazembe of DR Congo who also qualified for the Champions League semis.

They will meet six-time African champions Ahli in a two-legged tie next month for a place in the elite competition's final.

Ahli ensured they would finish second in Group B with one game to spare. Algeria's JS Kabylie top the group.

The Red Devils' coach Hossam Al-Badri said recently he preferred to face Mazembe but he will have to overcome a tough North African side in Esperance if he is to lead the team to a place in the final for the fifth time in six years.

Both sides last met in the 2007 Champions League group stage. Ahli crushed Esperance 3-0 in Cairo before slumping to a 1-0 loss in Tunisia.

Ahli memorably reached the 2001 final at the expense of Esperance after a volley from former attacking midfielder Sayed Abdul-Hafiz lifted them through on the away goal rule after a 1-1 aggregate draw.

They went on to win the competition after beating South African side Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.
