The England midfielder joined Liverpool in the summer on a free transfer after he was released by Premier League and FA Cup winners Chelsea.
He came up against United numerous times during his Chelsea tenure but believes that playing against the Red Devils after joining Liverpool would be a special occasion.
"I love playing against Manchester United," Cole said on Liverpool's official website on Saturday, one day before his side meet United at Old Trafford.
"I always have. Old Trafford is a great place to play and there is no better stadium to get a result.
"At Liverpool with the added rivalry between the clubs, it is going to be really exciting. I'm really looking forward to it.
"It can be a game that you use as a yardstick to measure your season but if we take a result away from Old Trafford it will be really good."
Liverpool made a poor start to their league campaign, collecting just five point from four games.
