It was reported that Mancini was infuriated because he thought that the towering marksman had been feigning the severity of his injury.

However, the Italian tactician laughed off any suggestion of a fight with Adebayor, who has just made three appearances for City so far this season.

"We fought in the dressing room for an hour!" joked Mancini after Sunday's 2-0 success at Wigan.

"I won because I don't have any scars. It was nothing."

Adebayor missed last weekend's home draw with Blackburn Rovers due to a leg injury and was also ruled out of wins over Red Bull Salzburg and Wigan Athletic.
