Mainz maintained their perfect start to the season by extending their Bundesliga winning streak to seven matches upon downing Hoffenheim 4-2, a victory that set a domestic record.

After sealing Saturday’s victory, Mainz have become the only team to win their first seven Bundesliga matches.

Sami Allagui, Adam Szalai, Luis Gustavo (own goal) and Andre Schurrle scored for the hosts on 2, 47, 59 and 74 minutes respectively.

Hoffenheim duo Demba Ba and Sigurdsson netted one apiece on 41 and 64 minutes.

Mainz are now on top of the league table with 21 points, six clear of closest rivals Borussia Dortmund.
