Tunisian newspaper Al-Sabah panned the Esperance fans who wracked havoc and assaulted security personnel in the stands during Ahli's 2-1 Champions League win at Cairo Stadium.

TV cameras caught a dozen of the away supporters beating up two stewards. Some of them were also seen holding lit flares although fireworks are not allowed inside Egyptian stadiums.

After the situation was contained, the damages at the match's venue were estimated at EGP 150,000.

"It's a disgrace to Tunisia," a brief news story on the well-known paper reads. "The live coverage showed that few Esperance fans had violently assaulted Egyptians.

"One of them (the hooligans) appears in pictures wearing the Tunisian flag and throwing a seat after ripping it up. This bizarre behavior blemishes Tunisia's reputation.

"The culprits must be apprehended and punished pursuant to the law in order to make an example out of them and show our Egyptian brothers how strict our country is."
