The 28-year-old midfielder hurt his knee during Egypt's stunning 1-0 defeat at Niger in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Sunday.
He was replaced at halftime, making way for ENPPI playmaker Walid Soliman.
"Ghaly was not able to carry on after picking up the injury," Egypt assistant coach Hamada Sedik told reporters after the game.
"He will undergo scans to determine the extent of the injury and whether he can play against Esperance."
Ghaly's presence was not felt against Niger, who caused a huge upset by overcoming seven-time African Champions Egypt.
The former Tottenham Hotspur man was due to feature in Ahli's anticipated game at Esperance next Sunday after serving a four-match ban.
He missed the first leg in Cairo which the Red Devils won 2-1 as they bid to reach the Champions League final for the fifth time in six years.
