Last week, the Azzurri coach was misquoted as saying Totti could be named for an international friendly.
But Prandelli later stressed that his statements were misinterpreted.
"There will be a way to deepen (the squad). But on Totti, my statement was taken out of context, blowing it out of proportion," he said.
"Now I have a new project and I am going forward with it."
