Widespread reports said the Egyptian FA has decided to call off the friendly, which is scheduled for October 22, although there has been no official confirmation so far.
An EFA source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told FilGoal.com on Wednesday that the match is unlikely to go ahead to avoid undermining the confidence of Egypt players if they lose the game.
The Pharaohs are already reeling after slumping to a shock 1-0 defeat at Niger in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers last Sunday.
Mohannad Mahadeen, the AFC spokesman, expressed his disappointment at the reports.
"We didn't receive any notifications from the EFA regarding that matter but the story is known in Egypt and this is something improper," the former Faisali captain told Egyptian radio on Thursday.
"That cancellation will land us into troubles because we already marketed the game."
Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan has recently called on the EFA to cancel the Jordan game.
He said he would not have sufficient time to prepare his players for Zamalek's anticipated Egyptian Premier League clash against leaders and surprise package Police Union.
Zamalek's match against Police will be played on October 26, just four days after Egypt face Jordan away from home.
